Day 1/2
Las Vegas to Zion
| Riverside Walk and The Narrows | other Zion trails and onto Tropic

Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5/6

It took us a little while to get our car from Hertz, but after navigating some traffic in north Las Vegas, we were greeted by mountains on our way into Arizona and eventually, Utah.

We gassed up whenever we could get some reasonably priced gas (note: nearly impossible in Utah) and while I was manning the pump, Eric got this early morning shot of a hot air balloon over St. George.

Eric liked the contrast of this tree and the background and converted it to black and white for a more classic look.

As we approached Springdale and Zion National Park, the mountains seemed to rise up out of the scrub brush vegetation.

Here I am showing off our rental boots. We made it to the Zion Adventure Company mere minutes after they opened at 8am to rent boots, neoprene socks and hiking sticks.

This gear made the river hike so much better... our feet were warm and we looked with sympathy upon those with soaked tennis shoes and teva sandals. Completey worth the $17.

Plus, they're mighty stylish, no?

Scenes from the Riverside Walk trail at the Temple of Sinawava shuttle stop. Even without The Narrows hike, this two mile roundtrip walk is great. The Virgin River is on the left and on the right is a weeping wall covered with wildflowers far above your head.

At numerous points along the Riverside Walk there are marked trails to the river for views like the one above.

Shortly after this point, it's time to walk in the water...
