getting to the Grand Canyon and Bright Angel Point | North
Kaibab Trail, Point Imperial and Cape Royal
On our way south, we stopped in Kanab, UT to get this shot. We tried to pick up some snack at a grocery store in town, but we were 15 minutes early and didn't feel like waiting around, so we hit the road hoping to find some cheaper gas in Arizona. |
As soon as we crossed the border the landscape changed. The ground was flat and you could see where the land and sky touched in every direction. |
We made a few shoulder stops along the way so Eric could get some good wildflower photos. |
I was not expecting the drive into the Grand Canyon area to be completely covered in pine trees. We passed trees and more trees interspersed with an occasional meadow. A lot of the area had burned in the last few years, so not all of it could be considered "scenic." |
The footpath leading out to Bright Angel Point at the North Rim. Great views are to be had from every angle. |
A three photo composite panorama of the breathtaking view south into the Grand Canyon. |
If and when we make it back here we are definitely staying at this lodge on the edge of the North Rim. Our plan was to have some lunch and hike part of the North Kaibab Trail... |
