Eric surprised me before the trip by finding tickets to the Harry Potter show, parts 1 + 2 for Saturday!  Part one runs from 2pm to 5pm and Part two runs from 7:30pm to 10:15pm so we made reservations for lunch and dinner to make sure we could eat in a timely manner.

We slept in a bit after a hectic Friday so breakfast was skipped, but we did make time for a quick walk through Hyde Park to see the London Mastaba on Serpentine Lake.

Next, we picked up our theatre tickets, then headed to the Art Deco Brasserie Zedel for lunch. Eric got the prix fixe option that included medium-cooked chopped beef covered in a lovely gravy with french fries and a dense chocolate tart for dessert. I had the steak tartare with fries (and a few bites of the tart).

Fast forward several hours later and Part 1 was complete, so we walked five minutes to Pix Pintxos, a tapas place in Covent Gardens. We had booked ahead and lucked into a prime spot in the window that was perfect for people watching and getting first dibs on the rotating pintxos. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful, and the food we choose was delicious. We only ended up with two large plates (ham croquettes, four-cheese fritters) and three small plates (olives, iberico ham on toast, padron peppers) but it was enough food for us. The selection of wine by the glass was also great… Eric liked his Verdejo better than the Sauvignon Blanc (too light) and I enjoyed both my Tempranillo and the dry rose.  We didn’t pass up the Pedro Jimenez sherry as ‘dessert!’

Then it was back to the theater for Part 2. Without giving anything away (in case you haven’t read the book or synopsis as I didn’t) the show was fantastic! Full of magic, humor, and beloved characters, I highly recommended it if you are a fan of the Harry Potter stories. Our seats were in the second row of the Grand Circle (B30 + B31) and the view was totally fine. We could see the entire stage and at a cost of £67,50 per ticket (per part) it was 100% worth the money.
