A new entertainment center

For the past ten years we’ve had an entertainment center that has survived two moves, successively larger TVs, and its share of scrapes and dings. Last Thursday we cleaned it out in preparation for a new all-wood upgrade.

Bye old friend!

the new entertainment center

This is the third piece of “real” furniture that Leandra and I have bought (the couch came first, and the glass table seen above second) and it should last us as long as we want it. It’s made of hard maple with a cinnamon finish by a Pennsylvania company called Standout Designs. Specifically built for modern electronics, it has a large shelf to hold the center channel speaker in the middle, cabinets with front vents and vented glass shelves, plus whisper fans that turn on when the interior hits 87 F. All the back panels come off to get to the backs of our electronics, and the whole thing rests on hidden wheels so you can get to the back. I’ve been exploring an upgrade of our entertainment center for most of the past year, and when they had a clearance price on a photo model of my favorite model we finally made our decision. So far I’m very happy with it. I do note that there is plenty of room for a larger TV…
