The instigation for our trip to Sonoma County was a great special on Jetsetter for the Applewood Inn B&B. (FYI: That link is an affiliate link, but you’ll earn $25 for joining so it’s not evil, I promise!) Combine a place to stay with reasonable tickets to San Francisco and we couldn’t pass it up.

Unlike our trip to Napa in 2009, we found Sonoma tasting rooms to be less pretentious and more affordable. I could say the same thing for the Applewood. Upon hearing where we were staying most everyone asked us if we had dinner there. Thankfully, we had! Our first night we enjoyed the restaurant week offering of a three course meal (with generous) wine pairings for $54 each. Dinner was good, but the breakfasts (included in the room rate) were incredible, including the complimentary espresso drinks and mimosas.

I would have taken a photo of the room, but it looks exactly like the photos on their website (how often does that happen)? Our room was located directly off the main entrance way but the only noise we noticed came from the road outside our window. While the traffic died down considerably at night, the occasional road noise in the morning was really our only complaint. The towels and toiletries were great and even though Pisa is listed as a petite room, there was plenty of space for the two of us. Highly recommended.
