The main reason to go to Grand Cayman was to use two free night certificates from IHG that were expiring. After investigating several California properties, we decided we’d rather go to the Caribbean, and the Kimpton Seafire Resort was highly recommended so we built a mini-trip around it.
First impressions: wow!
Check-in was very friendly, with complementary sparkling rose and cookies on arrival. Since it was our first time there we we were given a quick tour and escorted to the elevator.
Our room on the 7th floor was quite large, with a king size bed in the middle, and a couch toward the patio. It also had a small wet bar area (including a refrigerated drawer) and good-size closet.
The bathroom was quite spacious, and the wood-like tile continued through the shower as well. We liked the bold white and pink color scheme.
Our room faced the bay; perhaps less desirable, but it still had a nice couch and view.
The rest of the facilities did not disappoint either. For example, the beach had 50 SPF sunscreen and aloe vera in addition to the expected towels and chairs. Our favorite spot was in the shade under the sea grapes.

Amenities around the pool were similar, and included an outdoor games area on one end (ping pong, foosball, etc).
The gardens around the pool were in great shape and kept quite tidy.
Between 5 and 6pm Kimpton Hotels traditionally hold a wine social hour, so we made our way there for sun-downers both nights. Leandra went for the red (malbec) while Eric went for the white (a chardonnay blend). Mosquitoes tended to come out around that time, thankfully bug spray could be had from the valet attendants!
The lobby is quite open and airy, chic without being fussy.
Shortly after was sunset, quite lovely both nights.
All in all the Seafire was a great place to get away for a few nights, and we had a wonderful time.
