UK Dec 2024: Manchester food & drink

Turtle Bay
A chain restaurant in the UK with a Caribbean theme, we were intrigued by their 2-for-1 happy hour before 6:30p. The ‘One Love’ with passion fruit was nice, as was the combo of a Gosling’s rum shot paired with their house ginger beer. They also had a variety of mocktails available which was a nice plus.

Pieminister
We ordered the ‘moo and blue’ (beef and blue cheese) pies for both of us and they were very nice. Thankfully we did takeaway, as their dining area is quite small and full on a Monday night.

Pen and Pencil
The group split up to do different things after the Etihad stadium visit, so Martha and I met here for lunch and drinks later in the afternoon. The house cheeseburger with bacon was delicious and perfect for us to split with a side of fries. We each got generous pours of a white and red wine.

Rudy’s Neapolitan Pizza
Delicious thin-crust Neapolitan pizzas cooked in wood-fired ovens, three of us split two pizzas – a buffalo mozzarella and a prosciutto and rocket. It was packed on a Tuesday, glad we had reservations. Also, the service here (as well as many places in Manchester) was very friendly.

Cardinal Rule @ Northern Monk
On our last evening, we went to a highly rated brewery that has a kitchen for rotating local food vendors. Ironically it was a southern fried chicken and biscuit place in December. I got the Hometown and it did not disappoint. Take it from my companions that the beer is much better than the wine here!
