On day five we headed east through the paid Norðoyatunnilin (and several other tunnels) to explore Bordoy and Vidoy islands.

Our first stop after exiting the undersea tunnel was the Vidareidi viewpoint of Fugloy and Svinoy islands.

We continued into Viðareiði, parking at the small church and hiking down to the rocks to get some amazing views of the North Atlantic.

It was windy!

Hoping to do a loop back to Hvannasund, we drove southeast out of town but were stopped by a road closure sign (no dates this time) so we had to settle for some duck photos at a fairy garden park, Leitisgardur, and return the way we came.

Back on Bordoy, we stopped at Svartidalurfoss waterfall. The road dead ends into a small parking lot and you just go through the sheep gate and walk about 3 minutes to the overlook.

It was approaching lunchtime, so we stopped in Klaksvík for lunch. Found a one-hour parking spot right in front of Reyðleyk and enjoyed a pizza and lemon soda on the back patio. Our only meal out on the entire trip!

One of the most recommended things to do on Bordoy is the hike to Klakkur viewpoint. We parked in the lot at the bottom of the hill which added 2km RT to the hike but it was a steady incline on gravel so not too difficult AND we got to see a herding puppy train on some sheep. Total bonus.

I made it most of the way up but decided to stop when the terrain got really muddy. My hikers are not waterproof and I could feel the wet seeping into my shoes. Eric braved the steep trek up to the top and was rewarded with 360 degree views.

We picked our way back down the muddy hillside and started our drive back to the airbnb, stopping briefly in Fuglafjørður for two more waterfalls and some fjord views.
