Leandra’s brother Ryan and his girlfriend Emily came to visit us for Thanksgiving, and after all the turkey we were in need of some outdoor time. Hanging Rock State Park is only about 2 hours away, and it had been a while since we last visited (2004) making it high time to return. Friday’s weather was beautiful so we loaded everyone into the Vue to see what central NC has to offer.

Our first hike was the 3 mile route to the very top of Hanging Rock.

Riesling loves to hike, and on this trip she charged up the trail like she had orders to secure the hill. She slept very well that night…

After Hanging Rock we also took the short trail to Upper Cascades Falls (also visited previously).

After the falls the sun was getting low in the sky so we left for home. On our way we stopped at Foothills Brewing in Winston-Salem so Ryan and Emily could try some NC beer… and get Leandra a People’s Porter :)
