where we stayed in Amsterdam

Our lodging choice was a B&B on this trip, the Sunhead B&B in the Jordaan area. The location was great- less than 5 minutes to pubs and restaurants, and a 10-12 minute walk to the main train station or the red light district. Tram stops are nearby as well. Also, the location along a canal made navigation a bit easier and was reasonably quiet at night.

On the down-side, the bathroom water temperature was inconsistent, and the sink was located around the corner from the rest of the bathroom. On the plus-side, the bed was comfortable and the breakfasts were plentiful with eggs how you like them, fresh breads, Dutch cheese and a robust collections of jams and spreads. As with many houses in Amsterdam, this place was vertical so be prepared to haul your luggage up a steep winding staircase with no railings. Say hello to Carlos for us if you book a room. :)
