This past weekend we were invited to South Carolina by some friends of ours. We stayed with Trish’s mom in a posh little apartment above the garage in Summerville, SC. They fed us dinner on Friday night and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning, how generous!
We were up bright and early on Saturday and spent the day exploring downtown Charleston on foot.
The East Bay Street and Battery-area residences were gorgeous and we enjoyed the exteriors and a few peeks of the interior gardens and courtyards when we could.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be Charleston without all the sweetgrass baskets for sale in the touristy areas.
As the sun was losing strength (whew!), we relaxed near the pineapple fountain before heading back up near the visitor’s center (where we parked) for dinner at La Fourchette, a charming French bistro on King Street. (They don’t have a website, but the food was delicious.)
I think we walked over six miles, so we were all pretty wiped out at the end of the day. We have a bunch E&L Gallery.
And here are some photos from our last trip to Charleston in November 2002.
