Lower Falls

Location: North Carolina
Directions: Take US 21 north from Elkin, NC to Traphill Road (SR 1002) and make a left. Make a right onto John P. Frank parkway and take this road into Stone Mountain State Park. Make a left into the large picnic area and park. Walk to the rear of the parking lot to pick up the Stone Mountain Connector Trail. Take this trail for about ½ mile and then turn left onto the Stone Mountain Loop Trail. After ½ mile you will pass the lookout for Stone Mountain Falls, keep going for another ½ mile to the sign for Middle and Lower Falls. Lower Falls is 0.75 mile down, you'll have to cross three streams on rocks. This moderately hard hike is about 3.5 miles RT including Middle Falls.
