Denton Branch Falls

Note: If you miss the pullout, less than a mile up you'll see a sign marking the NC state line.
Directions: From Clayton, travel west on Hwy 76 for 8 miles to Persimmon Valley Road (look for the firehouse on the corner). Turn right on Persimmon Rd. and go 4.1 miles to FS70 on the left. You'll see a sign for Coleman River WMA. Follow FS70 for about 6.6 miles (turns to gravel after 1.5 miles) to (unmarked) Denton Branch Road on the right just past the 'Tate City Mall' and Chapple Road. Drive about 0.3 miles to a primitive camping area and park here. Cross the stream on rocks and follow the trail up the left side of the branch about 300 yards to the falls. This one was very hard to find and bathed in sunlight, but you can hear the falls as you approach. There was a very large spider eyeing Eric when I took this shot.
