Today
was a relaxing stay at home day because Veda wanted to make Courtney a
chocolate cake for her 10th birthday. We decided to make pizza for dinner,
so I whipped up a batch of my famous pizza dough and let it rise while
we picked up the kids from school.
On the way
home, we stopped at the mall for some snacks for our weekend trip, candy
for the kids and drinks. I also picked up a few things as gifts for folks
back home in one of the shops. There's a great local place for biltong
(jerky) nearby, so we made a pit stop and I ordered some kudu and ostrich
biltong. The kudu was very tasty but neither Courtney or I cared much
for the ostrich.
We
repacked up our bags for another three-day trip and I made dinner for
everyone. It turned out pretty well considering I had to use cake flour
for the dough, regular yeast (not the quick-rise stuff I'm used to) and
a spicy tomato salsa-like sauce. After dinner, we surprised Courtney with
a chocolate cake in the shape of a horse that featured re-lighting candles
and sparklers on top. Fat and happy, we sat around eating chocolate cake
and talking for a bit about our plans and route for the next day's drive
up to Club Elani near Piketberg.
I made a
list of a few things we still wanted to do before leaving next week
Boulder's Beach (african penguins), Table Mountain, World of Birds, Two
Oceans Aquarium, Solole Buffalo Park and photos of the Kommetjie lighthouse.
